Balcony Days

I spend a lot of time on our balcony these days. On sunny days it is like a spare room. The marquee is very old and reminds me of my childhood ( in the seventies, if you must know).
The lady who lived here before us left it behind. It is old but I love the colours, they make the whole living room glow orange.I have been forever rearranging these flowers...

...but now I am happy with it. My neighbour, an old lady, thought they had grown overnight! I had to dissapoint her. She lives in the white house in the background and often talks to me through the window while I sit on the balcony ( I like it most of the time).

Fabrics washed, waiting to dry, being ironed, cut and sewn...a gift from a friend in a far off place... I just love Kona cotton.

Back to knitting, finally! The pattern is by Elizabeth Zimmermann who thinks mittens should not be made in a hurry, so make them in summer... I think she is right!

She didn't give any instructions on how the pattern should be arranged around the thumb. It took me three times but finally it looks alright to me.
Happy weekend, everyone!

Cushions

Since we've been back everything is out of rhythm... so my ambitious sewing projects have to wait. Still wanting to show you something. I guess some of my old friends would laugh if they knew I'm into cushions these days... in case they read this, I even have a sofa now.. or two.
This is a cushion I bought in Sardinia. It is handwoven and I love the texture.

One of the many beautiful presents we got when Tom was born is this little cushion:

Dragons! (thanks, Kathy!)
Peperoni glass beads rock. I rarely ever wear jewelry, but this wristlet I like. Thanks, husband!
